I was 18 years old, and yes, that movie hit me like a freight train.

History remembers it as some sort of teen sex romp, but for me, it's the melding of music, mood, and scene in that movie that makes it a classic. I have the sound track and listen to it often. The thing I find interesting is that the director, Paul Brickman, who *crushed* it in that movie, barely ever directed again. He did Men Don't Leave in 1990, and that was it.
